We made the decision to switch for our reading/history this year.We went with Bob Jones and so far I am pleased.Now we have only been using these two for a few weeks.Still need some time to really see how it is.
We have made some changes from our previous classroom set up to our new area,the kitchen.With having an baby we needed an extra room and that room will be the classroom(old one).We are making it into our new bedroom and giving Toby our bedroom.We just added an new cabinet into the kitchen and put everything into it for our schooling needs.
We really weren't using the classroom as much as I had thought so this will work,we will see for now.I would love to just put the baby into the same room with Zachary and make it back into an classroom especially since we will be schooling 2 kids and we will need lots more room when Toby starts schooling.
We get up usually around 6:30 and have breakfast and start little chores in the house and then when daylight arrives Zachary heads out to take care of all the dogs and chickens.
After he does all of his outside chores he is allowed tv time or computer time.Usually he is playing with the dog while watching cartoons.He does get onto the computer by himself BUT he is only allowed onto ebay and connhunting sites.Yes I allow my 12 yr old onto ebay,he looks at the hunting supplies that they are for sale.He is actually learnnig from his father on how to FLIP(make some $$$)on used lights and hunting supllies.They have this thing where they find the best lights and look for the price that they are at and bid only to an certain price and if they WIN them then they resale them for an much higher price when they arive here to our home.They have been making some $$$$ already.Example they bought an group of lead chains and they alredy have one sold for just the price of the whole lot.Same thing with an light they bought and found someone nearby that needed an light immediatley and he paid double what they paid.No they do not ask for an unreasonable price they just look to see what they are going for and ask that price plus shipping costs.I would say that is pretty good for FINANCIAL CLASS.
We are using teaching textbooks for MATH,we are happy with this curriculum from last year so why change something that works.
Spelling is still Sequential Spelling.

ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a plan working. And with your oldest to help out when the little one is older, I think you'll do great. One thing I see in my son's school, which is a PACE program, is that the older kids help the younger a lot.
ReplyDeleteAny woman who homeschool is brave. One must developed adminstration skill and learn to multi task when more then one child is involved. So not only the children learn but Mom's too.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter home school over seas and even though it takes a lot of planning she does well. She says nothing better then to hear her children say, my Mom is my teacher. Blessings
